About Jenna

Jenna Carter documents her surroundings through pen and paint with an animated realness. Inspired by wild beauty, classic architecture and unconventionality, her work appreciates both forgotten and well-loved places with fine detail, true colour and honest texture. She prefers to paint ‘en plein air’ and can often be seen working in public, becoming part of the scenery itself.
Jenna has hitchhiked, painted, lived and exhibited, across Canada, in cities Toronto and Montreal, as well as on BC’s west coast, in the Comox Valley and on Hornby Island. Her paintings have been hung in multiple solo shows, invitational festivals, such as Local Colours and the Vancouver Island Music Festival, and in juried group exhibits on Hornby and at the Comox Valley Art Gallery. She has been contracted to portray numerous businesses and residences, near and far, and most recently a historical walking tour map.
She now lives in Kagawong, on beautiful Manitoulin Island, where she and her partner have built a home and are raising their family. She enjoys organic gardening, natural cuisine, basketweaving and learning traditional skills for everyday use.

    Hi,
I just want to say that your paintings are beautiful and have a special charm to them. I fell upon your painting of the corner of Giruoard and Sherbrooke which is where I grew up and so it brought back many memories (not much has changed now – he he).

I presently live in Beijing where there would be ample opportunity to paint beautiful scenes and achitectures. I wish I could paint – he he.

    Ok, congratulations and continue.

    Jenna,
I just received one of your cards as a thank you note and I had to look you up online. Your painting is just beautiful and really caught my eye!! I took a watercolor class this year and am still struggling with getting to know the paint medium and finding my own style. Your work inspires me to keep trying.
